Drugs Education

Theme: Health and Wellbeing:

As part of our PSHE (Personal, Social, Health and Economic) education curriculum, your child will be taking part in a series of lessons focused on drug education and personal safety. These sessions are age-appropriate and designed to help pupils develop the knowledge and skills they need to make informed, safe and healthy choices.

The learning objectives we will be covering include:

  • Recognising that habits can have both positive and negative effects on a healthy lifestyle.
  • Understanding how medicines, when used responsibly, contribute to health.
  • Learning about the risks and effects of legal drugs common to everyday life.
  • Understanding the importance of taking medicines correctly and using household products safely.
  • Identifying how to predict, assess and manage risk.
  • Understanding what hazards may cause harm or risk and how to reduce risks and stay safe.
  • Identifying strategies for keeping safe.
  • Learning how to respond and react in an emergency situation.

These lessons aim to empower children with the knowledge to make safe decisions, understand the role of medicines, and be aware of the risks associated with legal drugs such as alcohol, tobacco, and caffeine.
